A Style, a Voice to Remember
His dazzling smile exudes joy and warmth even before his voice closes the deal.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Leon was raised with music, from gospel to the blues. He gave his first public performance at the age of 19 while in the military. That audience of 800 gave him his first of many standing ovations. During his 8 years in the service, Leon participated and starred in the well-known “Tops in Blues” productions.
Leon moved to Las Vegas in 1980 and immediately joined the internationally known recording group Buck Ram’s Platters and traveled four years with them before establishing a spin-off group of his own called “The Sounds of the Platters”. In 1994 Leon formed a seven piece group, now called Leon C. that debuted at Harrah’s Las Vegas.
Leon has played Harrah’s Laughlin, Bourbon Street Las Vegas, Mad Dogs & Englishmen, Boston Grill & Bar, Jerome’s Supper Club, Carlos ‘n Charlie’s in West Hollywood, and the fabulous Hyatt House on the Sunset Strip, Hollywood.
Theatrical contributions include “Porgy & Bess”, “To Kill a Mockingbird”, “The Carriage Club”, as well as a stint in the San Bernardino Civic Light Opera. He also starred as a solo singer in “Carousel: of Arts 1980” under the direction of Argia Geiger. His unmistakable vocal talent ranges from a clear second tenor to a natural baritone that soothes the soul.
Watching Leon, one cannot help but get involved in the magic of his performance. He sings as if the story were unfolding right before your eyes. His selections of tasty oldies mixed with more contemporary numbers appeals to audiences of all ages.
